June 19th. Today was a good day. Slightly plain in terms of route, straight shot down the Wexford coast, but made things easy. Woke up to a lovely hot sun and weather remained sunny all day. Went around Cahore point with little bumps but nothing major then just coasted with the tide and wind in my favor until Ballinesker beach. This is where scenes of Saving Private Ryan were filmed so that was fun to tell my family. There’s just something about camping on a long beautiful sandy beach with the dunes above. I refilled water at the public bath house and washed my bowl, brushed my teeth with running water and washed my face. Could go for a shower soon. Very impressed with my biolite power bank though, I’ve charged my phone 4 times now and it’s still got two bars.
Called my mom while the sun set and got to catch up. She’s very proud of me.
Made dinner in my little chair and ate it with all the doors of my tent open, looking out to the mild rolling sea. Listened to my current playlist that will inevitably house memories of this trip.
Today I felt real energy after paddling, the last couple days I have been too tired to do much but I enjoyed my walks down the beach today. I’m getting into a rhythm and a daily routine which I need to feel successful. This is pretty cool being out here.
